Taylor Sandrini

I am originally from Montreal. Prior to my arrival at Miami in 1986, I held principal solo clarinet chairs with the SantiagoPhilharmonic Orchestra in Chile, the NYO of Canada, the Orchestre des Jeunes du Québec, and others. I graduated from the Conservatoire de Musique du Québec à Montréal (Montreal Music Conservatory) with a Premier Prix (First Prize) in Clarinet Performance and a Premier Prix in ChamberMusic in 1981 with Professor Rafaele Masella. I obtained my Master's of Music in Performance with the late and Distinguished Professor Robert Marcellus at Northwestern University in 1984, and completed three semester of Doctoral studies at Indiana University in 1985 with Professors Bernard Portnoy and Earl Bates. I also studied with several teachers in France, Germany, and Canada during summers between 1980-1985: Jacques Lancelot, Henri Druart, Heiner Rekeszus, Kjell-Inge Stevenssen, and Robert Crowley. At Miami, I am a member of the Miami quartet The group recorded three CD's along with the PragueWind Quintet in the Czech Republic.We performed in several countries in Europe, as well as in Canada, Venezuela, Taiwan, and throughout the U.S. Each Fall for ten days, we are members of the Echternach Festival Orchestra in Luxembourg. Every year, a number of talented students are chosen to join the Echternach Festival Orchestra in Luxembourg. I also performed new music tours at the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, and in Singapore. I've performed as a klezmer soloist with the Cincinnati Klezmer Project nationally and internationally since 1998.
